All About Ultherapy

October 12th, 2023 | By: Timeless Skin Solutions
If you want to address the effects of aging that cause skin laxity and sagging without going through invasive surgery, Ultherapy is just what you are looking for.   Ultherapy works by producing ultrasound waves that stimulate the structural support layers deep within your skin. This includes the layers that would normally be addressed in a surgical facelift, but without disturbing the surface of the skin. That means Ultherapy can give you some of the same benefits as a facelift, minus the invasive surgery.   Ready to get started? Let’s look at what you need to know about Ultherapy.

What is Ultherapy?

Ultherapy® is a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure that combines ultrasound with your body’s natural healing process to lift, tone, and tighten loose skin. FDA-cleared to lift and tighten loose skin on the neck, under the chin, jawline, and jowls, it also helps to lift the eyebrows as well as improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the chest.

How Does Ultherapy Work?

Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound energy to heat targeted tissue under the surface of the skin, stimulating the body’s natural production of collagen.   An essential protein produced naturally in the body, collagen helps to keep skin looking youthful, with a firm, smooth and stretchy texture. As you get closer to middle age, collagen production begins to slow down and eventually stops. Because you are replacing dead cells at a slower rate, your skin begins to lose some of it’s youthful glow. Kickstarting that collagen production again is one way to repair some of the damage.   How does Ultherapy do that? While many procedures, such as Secret RF do this using heat, Ultherapy uses ultrasound technology to send pulses that penetrate far beneath the surface of the skin. The ultrasound waves bypass the top skin layers and deliver focused energy to the foundational layers, triggering a response that stimulates the regeneration of collagen proteins.   Initial results can be seen after 2 to 3 months as the collagen gradually regenerates to lift and tighten the tissue. Results from a single treatment last up to 2 years, at which point we recommend re-treating to maintain and enhance results.

Does Ultherapy Replace a Face Lift?

Although Ultherapy treats the deep foundational layer addressed in cosmetic surgery, it won’t duplicate the results of a facelift. The lifting with Ultherapy is natural and gradual; whereas facelift results are more immediate and more permanent. However, since Ultherapy is nonsurgical and uses the body’s own natural healing process, there is less risk involved than with a facelift and it has the advantage of no downtime, no scarring, or swelling.

What Are the Benefits of Ultherapy?

Ultherapy can effectively rejuvenate, firm, and tighten your skin without the need for surgery, using focused ultrasound technology.
  • Customization – Our providers are able to customize the Ultherapy treatment to meet your specific goals and needs by adjusting the energy depth and combining it with other treatments to further enhance the final results.
  • No Downtime - One of the main reasons why patients choose to avoid a surgical facelift is to avoid taking time away from work and life, in general.  While some Ultherapy patients may experience slight swelling or redness, there is generally no downtime associated with the treatment.
  • Extended Benefits - Because the results are long-lasting, you’ll only need to repeat Ultherapy every 18 months or so. Note, if drink alcohol, smoke, or have a lot of UV exposure, you may need more frequent visits.
  • Natural-looking Results - While a surgical facelift produces immediate results, it can sometimes look unnatural and “fake.” The results from Ultherapy are gradual, with the full results developing over an extended period of time. As collagen production is stimulated, your skin will begin to tighten from the inside out, leading to more natural-looking results that only get better with time.

Who Should Get Ultherapy?

The ideal candidate for Ultherapy is one with a mild to moderate degree of skin laxity.  Ultherapy is a great choice for patients who are not interested in surgical options, yet want to achieve lifting in the skin or those who have undergone a face lift in the past and wish to maintain the results.  At Timeless, our goal is to help you look natural and refreshed – you, just a little better.
