New Ways to Look at Botox®

December 10th, 2020 | By: Timeless Skin Solutions
Botox® is the most popular cosmetic procedure in the U.S., as well as one of the most popular treatments at Timeless. In fact, Timeless Skin Solutions ranks in the top 1% of Botox® injectors in the country! So, what does that mean for you? It means that we inject Botox® all day, every day, and undergo continuous training to ensure that we are the absolute best at what we do. Thank you for trusting us with your skincare journey!

So How Does Botox® Work?

Botox® is a neurotoxin that blocks nerve signals in the muscles where it is injected, and, therefore, it only works on “dynamic” wrinkles that are caused by muscle movement. Essentially, Botox® temporarily stops the movement of the muscles that cause wrinkles. If you can’t move your muscles, you can’t get wrinkles. While the muscles are immobilized, the wrinkles and lines stay smooth. In fact, Botox® is the only FDA-approved neurotoxin that begins to work in as little as 24 to 48 hours, and patients typically see maximum results in as little as 7 days. At Timeless, our treatment philosophy is to deliver the best possible outcomes for our patients while maintaining natural-looking results. We work with our patients to determine how many units of Botox®  are necessary to achieve their desired results.

Where Can I Get Botox® Injected?

Upper Face

Botox is commonly used on wrinkles referred to as “expression lines” that are commonly found on the upper face. These include the “11’s” between the brows, horizontal lines on the forehead, and crow’s feet around the eyes.

Lower Face, Neck, and Décolletage

Botox® can be used to address wrinkles on the lower portion of your face, helping to address fine lines around your mouth, dimpling along your jawline, and the vertical lines on your neck. Botox® can even give you a fuller-looking lip without the use of filler with the new - and very popular! - “lip flip”. “Many of our patients who only started with the infamous “11’s” in their younger years, are now finding great results with frequent injections in other areas like the chin, mouth lines, and jawline”, says Allyson Sterling.

Is Botox® Just for Women?

Though Botox® remains very popular among women in their 40s and 50s, there is a growing number of millennials and men who are realizing the benefits of Botox®.

Men

The term “Brotox” has put a masculine spin on the notion of erasing the signs of aging. Men may feel pressured to boast a youthful appearance in a highly competitive job market. Men oftentimes are looking to extend their careers beyond the traditional retirement age and want to look as energetic and enthusiastic as they feel. Men are also often inspired to try the subtle, minimally invasive procedure after seeing great results on their spouse or significant other. Men most often get Botox® treatments in their brows or around their eyes, three to four times a year.

Millennials

While some may consider Botox® a treatment reserved for those approaching middle age, it has become more common for our younger patients, including Millennials in their 20s and 30s. Rather than using Botox® for the reduction and softening of existing wrinkles, they use it for prevention.   Our everyday facial expressions and movements cause wrinkles as we age due to the loss of collagen, elastin, and bone volume in our face. But, if the muscles in the areas prone to wrinkling don’t move, or move only slightly, the opportunity for wrinkling to occur is diminished.

Is Botox®Only Used for Aesthetic Purposes?

While Botox® is famous in the cosmetic world for anti-aging purposes, over half of Botox® revenue comes from therapeutic rather than cosmetic treatments. Botox can be used to manage a variety of conditions as varied as chronic migraines and overactive bladder to excessive sweating and twitching eyelids. While certainly not a cure-all, Botox®can help you feel better inside and out.  Our team at Timeless Skin Solutions is here to help guide you through all aspects of your skincare journey. Request a consultation to receive a customized treatment plan perfectly suited for you and for assistance in determining how you can use Botox® to achieve your skincare goals.
