The Do’s and Don’ts of Exercising After Filler

June 15th, 2023 | By: Timeless Skin Solutions

Can I Exercise After Getting Filler?

Want to look refreshed and rejuvenated without undergoing the expense and downtime of a surgical facelift? Facial fillers increase volume beneath the skin to restore lost volume, smooth lines, and soften creases. While they are safe and effective treatments with minimal discomfort and downtime, there is a chance that you may experience minor swelling and bruising for up to two weeks. These symptoms can increase if you exercise after receiving filler treatment. We pride ourselves in being in the top 1% of injectors in America and part of what makes us a leader in the aesthetic medicine industry is that we take the time to educate both our staff and our patients about all of our treatments and products. And when it comes to fillers, one of the top questions we get is: “Can I exercise after getting filler?” The providers at Timeless Skin Solutions have worked hard to perfect their injection techniques to reduce facial bruising and swelling. However, when the tiny needle is injected beneath the intricate skin tissues of the face, it can rupture small blood vessels along the way.

The Effects of Exercising After Filler

When you exercise, however, your heart rate increases and that puts increased pressure on the blood vessels. If there is a small amount of swelling or bruising, exercising shortly after a filler treatment can make it more significant. Our providers recommend avoiding exercise for twenty-four hours and refraining from touching the area of treatment for 6 hours. In addition, you should avoid types of exercise that might put pressure on your face such as inverted poses in yoga or wearing goggles for swimming or skiing.  If outdoor exercise is on your must-do list, also consider that studies show that exposure to UV radiation found in the sun degrades hyaluronic acid, which is what filler is made of. That means daily sun protection can not just help to keep your skin healthy and protect against aging, but it also can help prolong the effects of your filler.

Staying Informed

It is important to the staff of Timeless Skin Solutions that our patients have all the necessary information related to the treatments and products we provide. These treatments are quick, cause very minimal discomfort and downtime, and are used in specific and accurate ways to help our patients achieve natural-looking results.
