Thermiva uses a small, hand-held wand, about the size of your finger. You will lie on your back with your knees bent and thighs apart and a gel will be applied to the treatment area. Your medical provider will move the tip of the wand continuously as it heats inside and outside of the wall of the feminine structure, delivering controlled thermal radiofrequency energy. It is recommended to shave before for optimal results, as hair impedes the effectiveness of the treatment.
Yes, when performed by licensed medical professionals. Since this technology entered the market in 2015, there have been no reported infections, burns, or blisters and is safer than surgical options for vaginal rejuvenation. The wand is single-use only, so you can feel confident knowing that a fresh, sterile probe is being used.
No, you should be quite comfortable. The device is temperature controlled between 42-45°C externally and up to 47°C internally based on your comfort level. The treatment feels warm and some even find it relaxing. The ThermiVa probe is smaller than competitors for extra comfort.
You can feel comfortable knowing that you will be treated by licensed and trained medical professionals and that treatment protocols are all reviewed by Dr. Erin Olah, our in-house women’s health specialist.
A typical appointment lasts 45 minutes. The treatment itself will likely take less time, but your medical provider will want to spend time discussing your desired outcomes, as well as what you should expect in the days following treatment.
